the canals
From l'Arsenal PARIS : MARNE,
CHAMPAGNE, ILE DE FRANCE
See for
River
Marne....
From the « Port de l’Arsenal »
You have the choice between 3 canals: You will enjoy a unique cruise on
the Canal Saint Martin. Only a few barges cruise on the canal which is
now a popular destination for Parisians and tourists. The Canal is lined
by hundred-year-old chestnut and plane trees and has romantic iron
bridges and underground vaults. Its unique, poetic atmosphere gives it a
special charm for the tourist visiting Paris. The Canal Saint Denis will
lead you to Saint Denis and to the «Stade de France », where you can
enjoy sport events. On your way, do not miss the “parc de La Villette”
and the « Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie» (the biggest science
museum in Europe)!
The Canal de l’Ourcq, with its 10 locks, has historical jewels that your
must not miss! After your departure from the industrial character base,
the canal will bring you to a green
and charming landscape. You can also go and cruise on the River Marne…
From the « port de l’Arsenal », why not cruise on the River Marne. As
soon as you leave Paris behind you, have a break in one of the last «ginguettes»
(it is a popular drinking establishment often organizing dancing in the
suburbs of Paris) to enjoy Parisian life as it was at the beginning of
the 20th century.
