Locks
Locks are free of charge in France. Locks are usually open everyday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and sometimes longer. Locks can be closed for special events or bank holidays such as Easter, Whit Sunday, 1. May or 14. July. Opening hours can change according to the season. Please ask your travel agent for information.

Floods
Some rivers can be subject to a sudden rise in the level of water. Should this happen, we might have to change your departure point or ask you only to cruise on canals. These changes will not be considered as reasons for cancelling the cruise.

Licence
Steering a boat is not very difficult. The base staff will spend as much time as you need to teach you to steer and moor the boat.
If you do not have a licence to drive a boat, you will be given a temporary one to enable you to drive as long as you have booked the boat. That is called “carte de plaisance”.
